What an awesome day.

He liked my toy the best. :-)

I put it together last night because when I saw the words 'some assembly required' I thought, "oh no, we better do this now or we'll spend his whole visit trying to get this thing to work". And I *almost* put it together all by myself...I had to have Dingus's help because I had put a piece in backwards, but for the most part, I picked it out, bought it, and put it together all by myself. :-)

When he came over this morning, I was outside. Dingus knocked on the door to tell me they were here and I ran inside. Rambo was asleep, though and he slept for a long time. We were very quiet and tip-toey as we poured coffee and talked to each other...and sat there and stared at him.

Eventually, Dingus got up and got Rambo's presents. We started opening them. He didnt' stir. :-)

So finally, Dingus said "thats' it, time to wake up for a little bit." And he woke him up and got him out of his little seat. He cried for a minute and then perked right up.

It was the best visit ever.
(OK so, Iv'e only had 3, but of the three this one was the best.)

He smiled at me, he smiled at Dingus...he laughed and played. Dingus changed his clothes -- put on an outfit that he had gotten as a present so that we could take some pictures. That was pretty much the only time he cried. (Rambo, not Dingus.) :P

Then he played the rest of the time. He enjoyed all of his toys and he smiled at me and laughed a little and we had the best time. I always have some anxiety when he visits...in fact, my muscles are sore aftewards because I'm so stressed out and trying so hard. But this time was so fun. :-) He seemed to really enjoy all that was around him and yes I'll say it...he liked my toy the best. :P He reached for it, and then sat down at it and pushed a few of the buttons to make noise and music and then looked over at me and smiled.

That was the best. :D

But then again, he had to go home (way to soon). The funny party is, I miss him now that he's gone. As stressed out as I get when I see him, it's funny to me that I would miss him when he leaves, but I do.

Anyway...

I think I neglected to mention the Xbox (at least here on this blog). My dad got an Xbox 360 for Christmas. (This kills me...he's a 70 year old man with no grandkids...and he's gettin' an Xbox. LOL.) As soon as he opened it I said, "can I have your old one?" He thought for a second and then said, "yeah, I can't see why not". So we have the old one. I brought it up here with me.

Oh my gosh I forgot how much fun that thing can be.

He gave us a game to go with it which we played last night. Today we found a used game store and so we bought a few games for it. We've played Halo and Project Gotham Racing. We had so much fun with the racing game. :-)

It's been a full day and it's only 8:30 our time -- Dingus is already alseep. :-)

I have many thoughts to post on the end of 2006, and the beginning of the new year, but I'll wait til tomorrow to post them.

Iv'e been worried about a lot of things (and I still am, I won't lie) -- but I will also confess, after today's visit, I feel a lot better. Everthings' gonna be OK. :-)

YAY! Hayden's back! :D

Meaning that this new Blogger is no longer in Beta so my little icon is back. :-)

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, I sure did. It was a strange one...what with my living arrangements being somewhat "unknown" going forward, and I'll admit, I wasn't terribly into it this year. It didn't help that I got sick right before the holiday either. Plus, I'm broke. I realized a funny thing though, if you just tell your friends you're broke and won't be able to buy gifts, they are fine with that. And you can save yourself a lot of stress. :-) And as we get older, I think we are all in agreement that just being together and appreciating each other is really all we need. As I've said before, I do miss having money. I used to be able to give great gifts and buy ALL of my friends presents for Christmas. This year? I couldn't even do the secret santa exchange.

That being said, I am sad that I didn't make the phone calls I should have or put any cards in the mail. I'll make it up to you, friends. I promise. :-)

I did want to take a minute to expound on the story I told on OT...about the movie my dad bought. That hit me in a way I didn't expect. For those of you that didn't see, I told about how my dad bought me a copy of "Bambi" on DVD. When I opened it he said "that's kind of a dual gift", which at the time I didn't understand at first. In a second, I did. But he explained it anyway. :P

He said he bought it because he knew that I would enjoy it, but also because he thought that Rambo and I could watch it together someday.

*sigh*

In that moment, I learned a big lesson about love and trust. This is a baby that isn't mine...and let's face it, on the surface the whole thing is a bit...um...."difficult" to accept and process, let alone celebrate.

But here are two people, my parents, who not only bought gifts for Rambo and shipped them up north, (and were excited about them, my mother wont' stop talking about "the outfit") but bought ME a present that I could share with him in the future.

And the rest of my gifts were all in preparation for my move up north. They are not only supportive but EXCITED about all this.

It's hard to take in -- just hard to absorb the fact that two people love you that much. Almost makes you feel like you don't deserve it.

I hope I can give that kind of love to Rambo. And after this Christmas? I'm gonna stop worrying about it. One day at a time. It will develop as it's meant to be and I need to stop trying so hard. Just be myself and that ought to be enough. (That's what all the books tell me anyway. :-)

Things with my folks weren't always perfect...in fact, they downright sucked for a long time. But it was worth it to get where we are now. And I need to remember that.

So for now, I'm gonna pack my copy of "Bambi" in my bag to go up north, along with the gift that I bought for him too (it's a learning toy -- it lights up and plays music and it adjusts into 3 different positions so he can use it up until he's 3! Helps him learn colors and should help him walk too!) and just go nice and slow and see how this relationship develops.

But as always, any advice is appreciated and welcomed.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I didn't send out cards this year like I intended to, but I do love you, friends. I really really do.

Bleh.

I'm taking a bit of a hiatus, friends. Pretty much for no other reason than I have absolutely nothing remotely interesting to say. :-)

Goodbye, Friend.

My friend Margaret died on Sunday. I found out last night from one of our mutual friends (who admittedly was much closer to her than I was). She's an absolute wreck about it.

Margaret had a rare and sometimes debilitating form of diabetes. So much so, that back when she and I worked together, I used to keep candies in my purse because she went into diabetic lows so often. My friend and I had gotten used to caring for Margaret in these situations and knew what to do.

As I often feared, Margaret went into a low while she was alone in her home. She wasn't able to recover.

I'm going to miss her a lot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHELLE!!!

My dear friend Michelle reads the Poop occasionally and I just wanted her to know that I didn't forget! And I'm thinking of you today, hon. I miss you all the time and I think of you every day.

Happy happy birthday. :-)

Puttin' the call out...

...for positive vibes and good thoughts. (And prayers for those of y'all that feel the urge...every little bit can help!)

I'm leaving on Friday for one of my usual wonderful weekend trips. 'Cept this one has a bit of a twist.

I'm meeting a certain "little someone" on Saturday. A "little someone" I've been wanting to meet for almost 7 months and a "little someone" who will hopefully big a big part of my life going forward.

It's going to be a big day. I'm not quite sure what to expect...but knowing me, I'll probably be filled with joy, excitement, anxiety, insecurity, fear, self-doubt, guilt, shame, and awe.

Well, perhaps I *do* know what to expect. :P

So send your good thoughts my way...I'm going to need them, methinks. :-)

And...the "more" I promised.

What a day.

OK...first off...let me give you a bit of backstory on me. (Those of you who know me, will already know this haha.) Money is a big deal to me. And not in the traditional sense. I mean that it's a big deal because it has always meant independence. I can do what I want, when I want, as long as I have the scratch. One thing about my ex-husband, he did make good money and we were financially well-off (for a while). So he helped with the bills and rent and I had a lot of disposable income to do with as I pleased. I used to buy my friends dinner, pick up the tab when we went out drinking, buy them things that they were struggling to buy, or at least was able to pay my own way. These days? Not so much.

Anyway, Friday rolls around and it's time to go out with my friends. I can't really afford it because at this point I'm not sure I can make my rent. Weltek insisted by saying she was expensing most of the trip, so I said I'd meet them anyway. We had the BEST time at dinner. So much fun. And our dear Carey picked up the check for ALL of us. Not only did she do that, but she wouldn't let Weltek and Nolay give her any scratch for it. Not only did my dear friend buy us all dinner and wine, but part of me wonders if she didn't pay for the whole thing just to save her friend's pride. :-) The beauty of it is, I know soon I'll be able to pay you back. You may just have to come to Seattle to get the payback of a beautiful dinner with friends...but I'll pay you back nonetheless. :-)
As we stepped off the elevator I said "which way is it" and then looked up to see a camera sticking out from around the corner. It snapped a picture and then I said "gee, I sure as hell hope that's Nolay". (then yes, she did indeed take off her pants and knock on their hotel room door. She made me hold all of her shit...but looked at me like I had 3 heads when I tried to grab her cowboy boots. Oh no...she was leaving those on.)

We went to Sinbad's for some cracked crab and a nice seafood spread. And we had some beautiful wine (one from the Livermore Valley I might add). I told Weltek and Nolay that if they wanted to taste more wine, I'd be happy to show them around the Livermore Valley. Arkie liked it. :-)
*winks at Arkie*

We talked about football a little bit and Nolay got quite the kick out of me being a Dolphins fan. The next day, they called and we arranged to get together around noonish on Sunday. I spent my morning cleaning up my pit of a house and watching Terminator 2. (insert governor joke here) As I was cleaning I got a text message from my boyfriend. "Dolphins are winning 14-3!" Quite frankly, I didn't believe him and thought he was trying to be funny, so I went about my cleaning. Weltek had mentioned wanting to see the Packers game so I decided to check the guide and see if maybe, by any stretch of luck, the game might be on locally. There I saw in the guide, "Dolphins v. Bears". Holy shit!! OMG!! The game was on and I sat here watching a shitty Terminator movie and cleaning my house!! And holier shit, we are WINNING!!! I called Weltek and told her we would have to watch the end of the game before we could leave.

Talk about opening up....I get a little crazy when the Dolphins play. I get a little crazier when they win. And they were winning this game. We sat here in my living room, with me and my Dolphins-colored pom poms (yes I do have them, ask Weltek and Nolay....I even used them!) and watched the Dolphins take away the undefeated season from the Bears. I almost cried. And as ridiculous as I looked jumping and cheering and screaming and saying "yes Weltek I DO need another beer!" it was the best. We had a celebratory beer (OK *I* had a celebratory beer) after the game and then we were off to tasting!

I had called my pals Jake and Kristen, because they are huge Dolphins fans, to celebrate the win and they told me where the Mitchell-Katz winery is. Now I feel like a tool.

Arkie, it was literally down the street from my house. (We could have just spent the whole day there LOL! But then you would have missed out on the good wines elsewhere.)

We spent some time at Mitchell-Katz and then it was off to Concannon! Concannon is my favorite winery in the Bay Area. I have spent a LOT of time there. ;-) I showed them the grounds and showed them the tasting room. As we were paying for our wines, I showed them the coffee table book that was there in the tasting room. (Arkie can attest to how I feel about this book, she's seen it too. *wink*) It's a beautiful book and I had told Arkie and Jim that I wanted to buy it before I moved away. Concannon has always been one of my favorite places (which is why my friend Becky organized my bridal shower there) and I love that I live so close to it. So when I move two states away...it will be something I miss. Honestly? Nothing made me happier than sharing it with Jim and Arkie and Weltek and Nolay. Sounds kind of stupid but I feel like I got to share something that was a part of me.
(insert friends rolling their eyes here)

After that, we were off to Stoney Ridge. Now Stoney Ridge was Arkie and Jimbo's favorite, so I was excited to share it with Weltek and Nolay. And yes, they loved it too. Fruit flies and all. (*winks at Arkie again*) We tasted for a long time (Arkie is nodding her head in understanding right now) and chatted with the gal behind the bar. She was really really cool and laid back. And she invited us to head over to another winery across the street when she got off of work. (She was cute....not nearly as cute as "super bulked up buffed guy who was only 4 days on the job" but still cute) . I'll admit....I was a little buzzed after the Stoney Ridge experience...but we headed over to Sutter Kent (it WAS Sutter Kent, wasn't it?) anyway.

They had a raspberry and a peach sparkling wine. Oh. My. Cod. It was fantastic. There was a dude there playing music on his guitar and a big crowd of people...it was great. I parked the car while Weltek and Nolay went inside. I only tell you this because you will laugh that when I walked in (to a big crowd, mind you), I stumbled and bumped into a big ol' display of windchimes. HELLO! CATT'S HERE!! (For a second, I thought the whole damn display was gonna tip over....it didn't. )

We hung out there for a bit and then headed back to my place where we ordered a pizza and visited and watched TV. At this point, I was acting as if I had known them my whole life. Granted, I did get to hang out with them in Niagara and I kinda felt that way when I met them then, but by now? It felt as if we'd known each other forever. Including when Nolay saw that my garbage was full and then INSISTED on taking it out to the dumpster. I protested but he took it out anyway. While he was out, Weltek grabbed a glass of wine and went to sit on the couch. I was embarrassed about the garbage thing and was tidying up in the kitchen when I saw it.

For a second I though I was hallucinating....so I looked again. And then I reached out and touched it.

Weltek and Nolay had bought me the book. The coffeetable book that I had seen and wanted from Concannon. And they had slyly positioned it on my kitchen counter when I wasn't looking.

I touched it. I held it...I turned it's pages. And then I just lost it. As I was holding and losing it, Nolay walked through the door and into the kitchen. I just looked at him with my eyes filled with tears. At first I felt silly but then I put the book down and he gave me this huge hug. And then Weltek came in and the three of us just stood there in the kitchen....hugging and me crying.

I've read that book cover to cover since then. I showed it to my landlord but I wouldn't let her touch it LOL.

Nolay said that he thinks of me as a little sister (which makes me just well up when I think of him taking out my garbage). I've always wanted a big brother...really. I am happy to have you fill the role, my friend.

I'm super pissed tonight because my damn tire went flat and I left my cell phone at home....so I won't get to see my friends tonight before they leave.

But I'm going to miss you guys.

And Weltek, I hope you do come back before I move away so we can hang out again. (We have a lot more wineries to tour, and "Dogma" and "Moulin Rouge" to watch. Arkie, can you believe that Weltek hasn't seen "Moulin Rouge"?????)

After they left on Sunday, I called my boyfriend and just bawled into the phone about how lucky I am to know such wonderful people (him included *wink*). The last few weeks have been amazing and I feel very very lucky to know all of you. And I want to have extended visits with all of you...damn, I'm gonna have to get a second job. :-)

Oh and my landlord came by tonight....her first question was "did you forget about the rent?" I had just got done composing this big email asking her to please wait until Friday. When I started to stress out and well-up her first question was "oh no...you aren't giving notice are you? You aren't leaving are you???!!"

There are advantages to living in this bit of a hovel that I do....my landlord is really awesome. She hugged me and said "honey, don't be embarrassed. A lot of shit has happened and yes, we'll wait. I was just on my way to the bank and thought I'd check. Take as much time as you need. And don't be embarrassed, I understand and please just call us if you need anything."

So...I have a beautiful friend who took a big risk by coming out here to stay with me AND bought me a Star Wars calendar (which came with a DVD, I might add...O.M.G.), a friend who bough my dinner, more friends who bought that beautiful book for me (and the bottle of sparkling malvasia...yes I found that later) and a friend who will let me slide on the rent for a few days.

I may have a flat tire and be almost dirt poor....but bloody hell, I feel richer and happier than I have ever been.

I told Carey yesterday...I'm so less scared about moving away now. I know that no matter how far I go, I will always have friends. Wonderful, fantastic, loving friends.

Arkie, I miss you being here so much. I loved coming down the stairs in the morning and having coffee with you and visiting. I know that traveling was stressful for you, but I hope you'll think about coming to Seattle. (I promise that *I'LL* make the coffee. *wink*)

Because I owe that Carey a crab dinner...maybe you can keep her from tonguing me? :P

(But we still want to go to Nashville and we will. I can't wait to see you again. You promised me Cracker Barrell, don't forget!! )
*giggle*

Wow. What a long post. But it's been a big few weeks for me.

I love you, my friends.

Mine's better.

Okay so it's not really mine, it's Arkie's...but still.
There's so much I lvoe about this picture...I wouldn't even know where to start.

Random things.

Stuff that sucks today:

1. It's raining like a mofo here and my bike is still sitting outside.

2. I can't pay my rent.

3. I'm convinced my job is trying to push me from partially insane to completely insane before I quit.

4. My house is empty of friends. :-(

5. I wish someone would clean up my kitchen for me.

6. I'm a little bummed out...and fighting the urge to isolate.

Stuff that doesn't suck today:

1. My nails look great. (And I'm a nail-biter, so that's a big deal.)

2. Weltek and Nolay should be in the Bay Area right now. I'm so excited to see them again, I could pee my pants.

3. I have wine I got from work.

4. If I can fight the urge to isolate, I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of people I could call for a hug. :-)

5. I'm pretty sure I can convince my lanlord not to cash the check until next Friday. :-)

6. Along the same lines...I still have a house to come home to. Comforting when it's raining like it is.

7. The "Destroyer of Worlds" can sense I'm a little tense, and will NOT stay out of my lap.

8. It appears that Hayden's next movie will start screening next month. :-) (I was able to download the trailer too.)

9.The trailer looks AWESOME. There's a scene of him in the bath, he punches some guy, he swordfights, and the movie appears to be entirely about sex. This might just kill me.

10. Along the same lines, there was an outake on the website from "Revenge of the Sith" where Hayden is subtly trying to tell Ewan MacGregor that he has a booger. It made me laugh out loud.

How are you? :-)

Reward for your patience.

Here are the ones I have so far!

This is Arkie and I at my house.

The above picture was cropped because of the "Destroyer of Worlds" sitting on the ottoman in the background.

This was "before the kiss". Notice the placement of Carey's hand.

And after. I think Arkie didn't want to get frenched too!

I like the hat, but the rabbit ears really complete the look.

And finally, a handsome group all together. From left to right: Carey, Jim, Breezy, Nookie, me and Arkie. (Breezy, get your hand off his leg before I smack you!!!!)
:P

The Mother of All Rants

If you weren't dead, I'd punch you in the face.

Even in the grave, you are finding a way to make my life difficult and complicated.

I don't even have all the details on this particular pile of crap yet, but here's what little I do know so far:

For those who don't know, my ex-husband went into the hospital last year (around this time) for attempting to drink himself to death. He was in ICU in a medicated coma for a month. He has no insurance. Ergo, a $250,000 hospital bill with no way to get paid (that I'm aware of anyway).

Well now he's dead -- apparently successful in what he attempted last year. Of course, said hospital bill never did get paid. At all...nothing.

Our divorce was final in July and not only that, but the papers SPECIFICALLY STATE that he is to be responsible for all of his own medical costs. Blam. Done.

Or is it?

Apparently not. Now I've got some chick from the collections department at the hospital calling me, my parents, my ex-in laws specifically wanting to talk to ME...looking to get paid. LOL! So what, right? My lawyer told me just because they call doesn't mean I have to call them back.

But I did. (I've left a message...no call back yet). I spoke to my ex-FIL last night and what little he told me has something to do with the ex's 401k. He never changed the beneficiary so the payout still goes to me. (How this can possibly be legal, I just don't know. I would think that the divorce would have negated all of that but...I'm obviously not a lawyer.) Fidelity (holders of said 401k) will not release any information to his parents about how much is in there or how it can be accessed because they are not the beneficiary. I am.

So I figured..."fine, I'll just sign some stupid form with Fidelity and be done with it." Which is why I got involved last night.

Oh no!! They jsut dumped the whole fucking thing in my lap! I have to call this woman from the hospital and take it fromt here. WTF? Does anyone not get the concept of DIVORCE????

HE'S NOT MY FUCKING PROBLEM ANYMORE!!!!

I keep thinking..."what if I was in another state? what if you couldn't get a hold of me?"

And the kicker, the KICKER for me last night was when the ex-FIL said "don't worry...the hospital is totally willing to negotiate."

Negotiate WHAT? I'm not paying this fucking bill! Are you off your damn onion!!???

And then I get even MORE angry when I think of this: I know how this is going to go down. I'm going to get stuck doing all of the work -- phone calls, paperwork, this and that, you name it -- and it's going to end up COSTING me money. I just know it.

Negotiation or not, there is not enough money in that account to cover this bill and you know damn well that the hospital is going to take every penny they can. I'm going to need to get my laywer involved and she needs to be paid.

I'm going to end up with nothing except a shitload of frustration and pent-up anger and a big, fat attorney fee.

Fucking asshole.

Is the finally the end now?

Ugh.

I finally went through my mail the other day. I'm so bad about the mail...I'll pick it up every day and then just leave it in a huge pile until I feel like looking at it. There's rarely anything interesting in there anyway.

I found a blue card, like a postcard, from the Calavaras County Sheriff's Department addressed to my ex-husband. In big bold letters on the back I immediately noticed the words "WARRANT FOR YOUR ARREST".

*sigh*

I stared at it for a while, wondering what to do. Then I decided to just call the number on the back. Here's exactly what I said:

"Hi. This is Catt. I've got a warrant notice in my hand for my ex-husband. One, you've got the wrong address -- he hasn't lived here for over a year and a half. Two, he's dead."

The response:
"Oh. Where did he die?"

I answered him.

Then he starts in on this huge rambling list of questions about whether or not the DMV and other goverment agencies have been notified...blah blah blah.

Hey! Sgt. McStupid! Did you not hear me say "EX"?

Trying to hide the disdain and irritation in my voice I just said:
"uh yeah, I can't really help you there. As I said, he was my EX husband. You'd have to talk to his family."

So, per his instructions, (and as I've done with the continuing stream of Greg's mail I keep receiving), I wrote "deceased" on the outside of the card and labeled it "return to sender".

Although I was curious, I didn't ask what the warrant was for. Nor do I know what the hell he was doing up in Calavaras County. But, knowing what we all know, I think we can safely assume it's either a DUI or a drunk in public charge.

I sure as hell hope this is the last of it. I really want to put this behind me. For good.

*sigh*

For those of you who know me, you'll know why this is so very embarrassing. :-(

Ok so that's not really true. I have lots of comments! :D

But I'm not going to make any. I'm just going to comfort my friend and leave it at that. A "Zen" approach if you will. ;-)

OK fine. I'll make one comment (so much for Zen).

Just keep in mind that I'm a Buddhist. That means I don't believe in God and I don't worship the J man. (Well not THAT J man anyway). Just keep that tucked away when you think he might be shoving his religion down your throat or preaching to you. I'd be the first one to tell him he's being a sanctimonious asshole if I thought that's what was happening. But it isn't, and we talk about this kinda stuff a lot more than you might think.

Most times in arguments like these, we just don't understand each other or things are phrased quite poorly. I don't know. That's why I stay out of it. And I was asked to stay out of it this time. Still...I felt like I should say SOMETHING and since this is my little chunk o' space, I figured why the hell not?

And another thing...(aren't you glad I wasn't gonna comment? LOL):

When talking about the life that he "destroyed", please don't forget the life that he saved. Sorry to ruin the villifying, but I just wanted to make sure y'all didn't forget that.

When everyone's done fighting, I made muffins. :-)

No offense, guys, but this Blogger beta? Sucks ass.

Update available on the "other" blog for now, until I can re-do this one.

Wait a minute...

Ok...NOW it's a proper Catt blog. :D

...the hell?

Dunno what the hell happened there, friends. My blog done disappeared again -- and this time I didn't even touch it!! Methinks it has something to do with my gmail account...or some such dreck.

Anyway, blah blah blah...we'll just start over. That's what I do. :-)

Anybody got any good stories? A joke perhaps? It's a bit of a boring depressing day so lay it on me! Fart stories, perhaps?
:D
